Siouxland Autism Support Group Press Release:

We are pleased to announce the 2nd Autism awareness walk in Sioux City.  With the numbers of those affected with autism rising to 1 in 150, awareness is more important now then ever. The walk will take place on April 13th, 2008 with registration at 12:00 p.m. and the walk beginning at 1:00 p.m.  We want to invite all those affected by autism to come out for the walk. There is no cost for coming to the walk, but the benefits to those affected by autism will be great.

The walk will start at the Northwest AEA building; located at 1520 Morningside Ave (across from Morningside College), and go to the Morningside Avenue / Lakeport intersection and then back to NWAEA.  Register for the walk on the left side of the home page.  There will be a clown and face painting.  The Morningside Avenue fire station will be open for families to tour the equipment and get an up-close look at the fire trucks!

Again we encourage all those affected by autism to come out and show support: teachers, parents, grandparents, siblings, social workers, and the children who have autism.  This is a unique walk in that we are including the children in the walk.  

Get ready for the "Puzzle Piece Classic" on Sunday, June 1st at Whispering Creek in Sioux City. Last year was a big success and we are looking forward to another great classic.
